Part of a transformative social housing project, the gardens reimagine two separate Victorian terrace gardens into one communal woodland garden for supported living accommodation.
The gardens at Upper Chorlton Road were part of a refurbishment and extension of two former town houses to create 12 supported living apartments, providing move on accommodation for homeless people. The scheme offers a safe, dignified, and supportive living environment at a critical time in their lives. The woodland gardens were an important part of the support environment. They provide a shelter, allow a calming space with quiet wooded corners and seating for outdoor support. The gardens also allow residents to develop horticultural and gardening skills providing a platform for future work. The gardens and the building were superbly delivered by J. Greenwood Ltd , staying true to our design and our aspirations for this socially impactful space.
