As part of the Carlisle vision for economic regeneration, Natural Dimensions, in collaboration with Curtins, produced conceptual and technical designs for a high quality pedestrian friendly street between the Cathedral and the Greenmarket . The scheme extends from the Cathedral entrance into the city centre, to create a cohesive set of materials along the whole of the street, with widened pavements, and paved carriageways and parking bays. The streetscape is now an appropriate setting for the Cathedral’s famous East Window (c.1350) with materials and furniture worthy of the city’s unique and world class architectural heritage. The Castle Street regeneration is a key part of wider improvements to Carlisle and its Historic Quarter.
