Lying in close proximity to Pennington Flash, Lyme and Wood Pits country park, the landscape of this 130 plot residential development had to provide an extension to the semi rural character of its setting and respond to the existing great crested newt habitat and substantial woodland.
Natural Dimensions created a landscape and ecology masterplan for the site to determine suitable positions for amenity space, woodland, replacement newt habitat, detention ponds and play areas. Detailed planting plans for all amenity space and garden plots were produced along with a detailed play area design and landscape management plans. The designs divided the development into two parcels to break up the building mass with greenspace between them. Amenity included new collections of native woodland specimens, substantial hedgerows and a play area. Ecological enhancements comprised a wetland and wildflower planting around a drainage detention pond and a chain of replacement newt ponds with appropriate habitat between them.
